Flexible Packaging Solutions for the Circular Economy
USA/Canada/Neighbors/Universal

About

The call for the elimination of single-use plastic products, and water conservation is behind this USA/South African researched repurposable flexible packaging solution.
Market research, both locally and abroad, enables us to share this upstream packaging redesign and application idea with global brand owners, retailers and others seeking green solutions in the fight against global warming, plastic pollution, and water shortages.

OUR SOLUTIONReducing Plastic Usage/Conserving Water

Two stand-up pouches which, after first-use as packaging, can be repurposed as a tank/cistern water saver per Attachment 1.
Plastic is consequently kept out of landfills, rivers and seas, and value is added to the plastic.
The carbon footprint for plastics is accordingly reduced.
An EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) friendly solution.
The pouches are 185mm x 250mm and 185mm x 290mm and suitable, but not limited to, home/personal care in the 1,0L and 1,5L sizes.
Being the packaging, consumers receive the added social benefit of an effective no-cost water saver.
Their functional position in the toilet tank is per Attachment 2- water is saved by displacement. Fill the pouch with water and place in the said functional position.
This P&G pouch is currently on the South African market and is considered Universal as a water saver as well as a single-solution water saver for the regulated tanks of the USA and neighbors.
The USA market is sizeable at an estimated 70% of all households/buildings, the future market to include all replacement tanks and ongoing new tank installations.
These pouches are the result of packaging upstream redesign research such as the spout removal per Attachment 2.
The pouch can be used as a refill for existing products or simply as a replacement for existing packaging in order to increase circularity.
Store drop-off (Attachment 3) is a suggestion for used pouches, this for preferential distribution to municipalities in drought areas for onward transmission to households and businesses.
